Shelley Buffitt has had a diverse and interesting life on and off stage. Compassionate and never afraid to share her voice and life experiences in song or as a keynote speaker, she determinedly states, "the greatest gift we can give one another is mercy". Her experiences have taught her to never stop seeking out opportunity. Shelley believes personal and professional growth, along with contentment in the human connection begins with recognizing the potential in an opportunity.

"During the Ontario Country Music Awards in 2000, my  band Shellshock and I were featured performers as we were nominated for several awards. Leaving the stage after performing "Don't Forget your Son" ,one of the staff at The Copp's Coliseum in Hamilton approached me. She took me aside and said the song made her feel understood through words  that she herself could not express. She then shared her personal experience that was reminiscent in the lyrics..her husband had left her and her children and never played a part in her children's lives thereafter.  She and I created a bond of friendship . This is why I write and sing. Music connects people in ways we often overlook. It evokes emotion and a sense of belonging seldom felt by any other means. It is why we sing lullaby's to babies." - Shelley Buffitt
